Sailor Moon is a very sucessful manga written by Naoko Takeuchi. It is an unpronuncable name for western people, but, this name hides an mangaka (yes it is rare enough to be underlined). She is good at drawing "shojo mangas" mangas for girls.She is borned on march 15th in 1967 in Kofû (a littlle town that counts 200,000 inhabitants !), where she started to study pharmacology .But her love and her talent for drawing mangas improved seriously, and she became famous rapidely. In 1986 she won twice the price for the new artist given by the famous magazine Nakayoshi thanks to her mangas: Love Call. Then she gave all her talent on the Cherry Project, Chocolate Christmas and also e Ma-ri-ah. Then she had the idea of Code Name: Sailor V.

Code Name Sailor V told the story of an young high school student who can make up into a warrior to fight against monsters. This sotry of a gril who could make in a female warrior to fight against monsters intereted the the Toei company, a big firm which main activity consists in producing cartoons from mangas -France imported many oif its products- such as Saint Seiya (Knights of the Zodiac). So, Naoko transformed her idea , embettered it in order the producers of the Toei Animation could make it a cartoon from it. In 1992, Sailor Moon arrived on air under the name : Pretty Soldiers Sailormoon (bishojo Senshi Sailormoon in Japonese). While this period Nako also published the mangas on Nagayoshi (A japonese magazine specialised mangas for women). For more than 5 years, Sailor Moon meet an high sucess:- 3 movies, 18 mangas, and 5 TV series were produced. Now the mangas continue it international carrer !.

Toei Animation was created in 1956 in Japon. The firm produced about 90 TV series from mangas (or not ) for the television, 71 movies from cartoons for the cinema, 3D movies, advertisements... The Toei animation also works with foreign producers. As for exemple cartoons like : Superman, Denis the menace, Ghostbusters and thes Muppet Babies. The most favorite japonese TV shows are Saint Seya, Goldorak (UFO Robot Grendizer Raids), Candy, Galaxy Express 999, Dragon Ball... The firm also poses its own amusement park " OJI Fancyland "which is opened since March 23th in 1989. In this amusement park, you can firm animated cartoon heroes such as Micro Force, Cherry town...
